Our Story

Welcome to Sweet Virginia's Fine Candies and Coffees. Aside from our great coffee and toffee products, we also have a great story we'd like to share with you. It's the story of a mother's amazing recipes and her family's drive to share them with the world. We hope that every time you think of Sweet Virginia's, you will think of us and our story.

History

Virginia Turner was the mother of three children in the small East Texas town of Wills Point. It was there her culinary skills were honed while attempting to satisfy the constant demand for food from her husband, children, and all of the friends and family that would visit so often. It didn't take long before Virginia found she had a true passion and talent for making delicious foods for everyone around her.

Virginia's star quality specialties became dessert and coffee. On any given day a guest would be greeted and offered pie, cake, or cookies from her most recent baking endeavor. One of her most amazingly delectable creations was her almond toffee. It was unique because it didn't stick to teeth like most toffees, and melted away like butter when enjoyed with a fresh, hot cup of coffee.

Virginia made these excellent dishes until 2004 when she suddenly and unexpectedly became very ill. Her conditions worsened and months later she slipped into a coma and remained asleep until the winter of 2006 when she passed away in her home. In memory of her warm demeanor and welcoming kitchen, her husband and children decided to ensure that everyone would have the opportunity to know just how sweet Virginia was, despite her untimely departure. Today, Virginia's spirit lives on as her family makes Sweet Virginia's toffee by hand with the recipe Virginia had used so many times before.

Toffee

As mentioned in the history section above, many members of the Sweet Virginia's team grew up in a kitchen filled with love and learned the intricate secrets of making delicious toffee. After years of tweaking a family recipe at home, it has become an amazing product that everyone can enjoy. To help ensure our recipe stays true to the original, our toffee is made in small batches, which ensures that we deliver a "home-cooked" taste that you won't find anywhere else.

Coffee

It requires time and commitment to find that small special estate in Guatemala or Sumatra where a particular farm with ultra rich soil, lays nestled at the base of a volcano. Commitment to finding the highest quality beans is why we have the most extraordinary and unique coffees available.

Our fresh coffee beans are artisan roasted-to-order, in small batches using a German Probat drum roaster. The coffee is quickly packaged in a special bag to ensure the freshest quality possible. We are certain that when you take the time to properly taste our coffee, you will agree that Sweet Virginia’s offers some of the finest you will ever enjoy.
